Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf strongly criticised the Supreme Court’s ruling on the allocation of reserved seats, calling the decision “unjust” and a “misinterpretation of the Constitution.”
The party expressed deep disappointment over the verdict, which denied PTI its claim to reserved seats for women and minorities in both national and provincial assemblies.
Supreme Court Rejects PTI’s Claim on Reserved Seats
A 10-member constitutional bench led by Justice Aminuddin Khan issued the final ruling, accepting review petitions and holding that PTI is not entitled to the reserved seats. This decision effectively nullifies PTI’s access to the reserved quotas, significantly impacting its representation in parliament.
PTI Chairman Decries “Unfair” Decision
Addressing the media after the verdict, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said, “We are deeply disappointed… the decision is unfair to PTI, and the Constitution has been wrongly interpreted.” He asserted that the reserved seats were PTI’s rightful share and condemned the verdict as a blow to democratic principles.
Khan further noted that PTI has exhausted all legal avenues, stating, “We cannot take this matter to any other court after this review judgment.” Despite the judicial dead-end, he announced that PTI will continue to challenge the ruling both “inside and outside the parliament.”
In an official statement issued post-verdict, PTI described the ruling as the “darkest day in the country’s constitutional history.” The party also pointed out that the Supreme Court had previously upheld PTI’s constitutional right to the reserved seats. “That was a time when the court announced a decision by the Constitution,” Gohar Ali Khan remarked.
The party said it pursued every legal channel and presented comprehensive arguments. “PTI knocked on every legal door, presented every argument, and raised every constitutional point,” the statement read.

Senior PTI leader and Senator Hamid Khan echoed the party’s outrage, claiming that the Supreme Court bench “did not have the authority” to decide the matter and that the verdict lacked a foundation in justice.

The ruling marks a significant legal and political setback for PTI, which has been grappling with institutional hurdles since the ouster of its founder, Imran Khan. With no legal recourse left, the party appears poised to intensify its political campaign and mobilise public support to challenge what it sees as a systematic denial of its democratic rights.
