A 20-year-old Indian student, Preet Vikal, has been apprehended and subsequently sentenced in the United Kingdom for the rape of a woman that occurred last year. According to the sources, Vikal had transported the intoxicated woman to his apartment in Cardiff, UK, where the assault took place in June of the previous year. South Wales Police have also released CCTV footage capturing Vikal carrying the inebriated victim in his arms and taking her to his room.
After encountering the victim while she was socializing with her friends in Cardiff city center, Vikal became involved. According to a press statement from the South Wales Police, the victim was initially observed with her companions but became separated from them. CCTV footage shows Vikal carrying the woman along King Edward VII Avenue and North Road.
Detective Constable Nick Woodland of the South Wales Police, as cited by sources, stated “Stranger attacks such as these are extremely unusual in Cardiff but in Preet Vikal we had a dangerous individual. He took advantage of an intoxicated and vulnerable young woman who became separated from her friends.”
