Jailed Imran Khan Will Now Be Able To Talk To His Sons On Phone, Pakistan Court Grants Permission

A special court in Pakistan on Thursday allowed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently lodged in Attock jail, to have telephone conversations with his sons, Pakistan media reported.

The former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had filed a petition before Justice Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain seeking permission to talk to his sons on phone.

Imran’s lawyer Omar Khan Niazi said that the applicant “wants to talk to his real sons, Suleman Khan and Qasim Khan on telephone/Whatsapp.”

The applicant “has a legal right to have telephone conversations with his sons, and as per the rules, the applicant is entitled to such conversations, he added.

The petitioner further stated that “It is, therefore, respectfully prayed that the Superintendent District Jail Attock be directed to arrange a meeting of the applicant/accused Lamar Ahmed Khan Niazi with his sons Suleman and Qasim on telephone/Whatsapp.”

After hearing Judge Zulqarnain allowed the petition and directed the prison administration to facilitate telephone conversations between the applicant and his sons as per law.

“Immediate application is allowed. The order said, Superintendent District Jail Attock has been directed to make necessary arrangements for the phone call between the accused and his sons as per the jail rules and manual.

Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had sought response from the Law Ministry and other respondents on Imran’s plea against the recent decision to shift the hearing in the Sifar case from Islamabad to Attock jail, the Pakistan media reported
