James Murray Accused Of Sending Inappropriate Messages To Minor

James Murray

James Murray, one of the stars of the comedy series Impractical Jokers, is facing allegations of exchanging inappropriate messages with a minor.

The accusations surfaced on March 27, 2025, after a Reddit user claimed that Murray had sent her messages when she was underage.

The woman, who shared her story on Reddit, alleged that the messages were exchanged between February 2012 and January 2013, when she was 16 years old and Murray was 35. The accusations come just days after fellow Impractical Jokers comedian Joe Gatto faced separate sexual misconduct claims.

Murray has not yet responded publicly to the allegations.

The woman, who posted under the username @Pretend_Crab_9160, shared screenshots on the subreddit r/ImpracticalJokers, though they have since been removed. She claimed that the messages were exchanged between February 2012 and January 2013, when she was 16 and Murray was 35.

In one of the alleged messages, Murray reportedly told her, “Haha, you’re awesome… Once you turn 18, email me the same question and I’ll be happy to answer.” When she jokingly suggested he should stay single until she was old enough, he allegedly responded, “I’ll do my best, promise.”

More Into The Case

The user, who identified herself as Melyssa, claimed the two also exchanged messages about explicit topics, including “d*ldos,” and even said “I love you” to each other. She wrote, “I’ve only shared what I feel comfortable with at the moment. Censored for obvious reasons. I was 16/17 when I first reached out to say I was a fan, that’s when he offered meet and greet tickets

According to her post, the pair met in person in both London and New York. “We met up again a few times when he came to London. I would go to the parties and stay in his hotel,” she stated. “He bought me lots of nice things, gave me money for private taxis, and things no adult would have been needing money for.”

One text from Murray allegedly read, “I will not say until me meet in person!!” She said she was uncomfortable with the secrecy and labeled it as “unfair” at the time

In one of the more concerning claims, the woman alleged that during a trip to New York City, Murray invited her to meet him late at night. She explained, “This all happened between the ages of 16 and 18. Please remember, I was young. I thought this celebrity liked me, and at the time, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I acknowledge my part in this, but people need to be aware so that something worse doesn’t happen.”

She also claimed that Murray’s management team was present during their meetings and that at an afterparty, she and another minor were given alcoholic drinks throughout the night.

Screenshots she shared appeared to show Murray thanking her for a video, calling her “cute,” and offering her tickets to his show. In response to one of his compliments, she replied, “Haha, thanks! Anytime!”

Murray has not yet made a public statement about the allegations. Meanwhile, online criticism has grown after a Reddit user pointed out that he had liked a TikTok video discussing misconduct accusations against his Impractical Jokers co-star, Joe Gatto.
