The Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in the Al-Qadir Trust case until May 23. Bibi was accompanied by Khan.
The former Prime Minister is also seeking bail from the High Court in the cases filed against him for torching the residence of the Corps Commander and other acts of violence that occurred after his arrest last week.
In contrast, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a ruling coalition of 13 political parties, organised a protest against the court, including the Supreme Court, for allegedly offering “blanket relief” to Khan in a number of cases.
Many protestors, including workers and supporters of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), entered the “Red Zone” despite Section 144 still in effect in the federal capital.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan granted Khan bail on Friday after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested him in a corruption case.
