The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has extended an invitation to men’s and women’s cricket teams of lawyers from India for friendly matches to be held in Pakistan in October.
These matches will be followed by reciprocal matches in India, as informed by Adish C Aggarwala, Chairman of the All-India Bar Association (AIBA).
Hassan Raza Pasha, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, sent an invitation letter to Aggarwala on Tuesday. The letter expressed the intention to promote harmony and strengthen cordial relations among lawyers from both countries.
The proposed cricket matches are scheduled to take place in Karachi and Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The letter emphasized that this exchange will provide an opportunity for lawyers from both sides to share insights and experiences, fostering a better understanding of the legal systems in India and Pakistan. Additionally, it is seen as a means to enhance legal knowledge and reinforce the relationship between the bar councils of both nations.
Aggarwala welcomed this initiative, considering it a positive step that will contribute to improved relations between the two countries. He believes that such visits will enable lawyers to gain valuable experience and ultimately promote goodwill and fraternity between India and Pakistan.
The AIBA Chairman also noted that cricket holds a special place in the hearts of people from both nations, transcending the boundaries of a mere sport to become a deeply emotional connection. He believes that these proposed matches will evoke fond memories and camaraderie among cricket-loving lawyers from India and Pakistan.
