Not only that, the petitioner also sought direction to invalidate the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Council of Common Interests (CCI) regarding the census and the 2023 elections.
Previously, as per the Lahore High Court’s order, the upcoming general elections should occur within 90 days. In light of announcing the election date, the Lahore High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan and the President’s Chief Secretary.

According to a news report, the 2023 census figures received unanimous approval from the Council of Common Interests (CCI), and it was announced that all political parties have decided to conduct the general elections using the updated census data.
Notably, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stated that there will be no general elections within the next 90 days.
