Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Wednesday has rejected the bail plea of Shankar Mishra, accused of urinating on a female co-passenger in Air India flight. The court has said in its order that the action of Shankar Mishra is in itself highly heinous and hateful. Even after getting the notice, he did not join the investigation.
During the hearing of the , the Delhi Police opposed Shankar Mishra’s bail plea. Delhi Police had told the court that Shankar is an influential person and can influence the case. The investigation is still in the initial stage, so they can contact the witnesses. Delhi Police also said that 6 people are yet to be interrogated, including crew members and some passengers.
The counsel for the complainant said that the court has to examine whether bail can be granted to a criminal who earlier said he did, apologized for the same but later retracted. He is saying that he was drunk. Addiction can never be a rescue. It is not his case that he was given alcohol without his knowledge. The counsel for the complainant further submitted that it was due to the influence of Shankar Mishra that Air India decided not to register the case. After hearing the arguments of all the parties, the court had reserved the verdict.
On November 26 last year, the Air India flight was reaching Delhi from New York. During the journey, Shankar Mishra, who was traveling in business class, got drunk and urinated on a 70-year-old woman. Later, after receiving a complaint from the woman, a case was registered against Shankar Mishra.
