Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday issued a criminal defamation notice to BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj in a case filed by former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.
The court stated that Swaraj can appear either in person or through her lawyer.
Court, on December 20, will record statements of Jain and his two witnesses.
AAP leader Jain has alleged that Bansuri Swaraj made defamatory statements about him during a television interview on October 5, 2023.
He claimed that the interview was viewed by millions and this has damaged his reputation and aimed at tarnishing his public image.
Jain further stated that Swaraj falsely accused him of having Rs.3 crore in cash, 1.8 kilograms of gold, and 133 gold coins.
He stated that these claims were baseless, politically motivated.
AAP Leader has been out on bail after being arrested on May 30, 2022 in a money laundering case in which CBI filed FIR against him in 2017.
He spent a considerable time in jail before his release.
