Plea filed by Advocate Ajay Bansal seeking urgent intervention to ensure air safety and service standards on Air India flights following repeated technical and safety failures
The petition highlights a recent fatal crash of an Air India Boeing on the Ahmedabad–London route, killing 241 people, allegedly due to lapses in maintenance and safety checks.
The petitioner detailed his personal experience on Air India Flight AI 127 (Delhi–Chicago) where multiple business class systems failed, including reclining seats, entertainment units, and air-conditioning.
As per the plea, an inspection report by DGCA revealed Air India had forged 13 safety audit reports, with spot checks not actually performed and audit procedures not adhering to regulatory standards.
The plea calls for grounding all unfit aircraft, mandatory unannounced audits, public disclosure of findings, and the issuance of new, stringent safety guidelines for domestic and international flights.
