World Day Of Social Justice Seminar Highlights Importance Of Values & Humanity In Building Inclusive Society

Values and humanity are key to creating a more inclusive and crime-free society said Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.

He was speaking at a seminar marking World day of social Justice.

Meghwal talked about the importance of Lord Buddha’s (Siddharth) teachings, stating that he was a champion of social justice.

He said that Buddha’s values continue to inspire efforts towards equality and fairness and such values could pave the way for a more crime free society.

Supreme Court Judge Justice Sanjay Karol talked about the deep-rooted inequalities and systematic discrimination prevalent in Indian society.

Singapore International Commercial Court judge AK Sikri, Attorney General of India R Venkataramani, Senior Advocates Siddharth Luthra and Geeta Luthra among others were in attendance.

Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra suggesting that laws should be audited every five years to ensure it remain fair and just.

Geeta Luthra, Senior Advocate, spoke of the charity and philanthropy ingrained in her family’s values.
She recalled how her father (KK Luthra), ensured that half of his earnings donated to the Gurudwara.

Dr Meera Luthra, Senior Consultant, Paediatric said that if there is a child who does not have money comes to me, they won’t go empty handed. This was what we learnt.

The seminar also marked the announcement of the KK Luthra & Nirmal Luthra Centre for Comparative Criminal Law & Criminal Justice Studies at OP Jindal Global University.
