Three individuals executed in Iran for luring women into a counterfeit clinic and committing rape

Iran

Three men convicted of raping women at a fraudulent cosmetic surgery clinic and administering anaesthetic drugs were executed in Iran on Tuesday.

The men were found guilty of conspiring in 12 sexual assault cases in late 2021 in the province of Hormozgan. The Chief Justice of Hormozgan, Mojtaba Ghahramani, confirmed that the men, including a medical assistant and two nurses, were hanged in Bandar Abbas prison.

The crimes involved luring victims to the fake clinic through false online advertisements, administering anaesthetic drugs, and committing sexual assault. One of the men, a medical assistant, had lured seven victims to the fake clinic with deceptive cosmetic procedure advertisements posted online, then injected them with an anaesthetic drug and raped them.

The other two convicts, both nurses, were hanged over five cases of rape, as well as charges relating to the theft of the drugs, according to the report.

Amnesty International reports that Iran ranks among the top countries in terms of executions, with 582 people hanged last year, the highest number since 2015.
