VVIP Chopper Scam: CBI & ED to Clear stand on Bail Plea of Christian Michel in Supreme Court,

The Supreme Court will hear the bail plea of Christian Michel, an accused in the AgustaWestland Chopper scam case, at 2 pm today. In the last hearing, the court had asked the Central Investigation Agencies CBI and ED whether Christian Michel should not be granted bail just because he is a foreigner.

The court had said that in the facts placed before the court, any Indian citizen can be granted bail. The Christian Michel’s lawyer had said that Michel has been in jail for about three and a half years, including the custody of Dubai and the custody in India. Michel has challenged the Delhi High Court’s decision given on March 11 last year in which his bail plea was rejected. The CBI and ED had opposed Michel’s bail in the High Court.
