Delhi High Court judge, Justice Amit Sharma has recused himself from hearing the bail pleas related to the 2020 Delhi riots.
The bail pleas filed by Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, and others are among those scheduled for hearings.
A bench headed by Justice Prathiba M. Singh, ordered that the matters be listed before a bench that does not include Justice Sharma as a member.
This marks the third division bench to release the matters. Initially, Justices Siddharth Mridul and Rajnish Bhatnagar were presiding over the cases.
After Justice Mridul’s transfer to the Manipur High Court, the case was assigned to Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain.
Given the roster change, the case was assigned to a bench of Justices Prathiba M Singh and Amit Sharma.
Following Justice Sharma’s recusal today, the matter will now proceed before a fourth bench.
