Lawyer Shot Dead In Ghaziabad Court Complex

The brother-in-law of advocate Manoj Chaudhury alias Monu, was shot dead from a point-blank range in the Ghaziabad tehsil court complex, and was among the 3 men who have been recently arrested in connection with the murder.

Manoj Chaudhury alias Monu Jaat was eating lunch in his chambers at around 2 pm on Wednesday when 2 men entered the room and fired at him and he died on the spot.

Following this tragic incident, the victim’s wife, Kavita Chowdhary, filed a formal complaint implicating her brother Amit Dagar, along with his brother Nitin Dagar and other accomplices, Madan Dagar, Anuj, and Paloo, alias Amit, in the case. She alleged that all 5 individuals were present on the court premises at the time of the shooting.

Based on the complaint lodged by Kavita Chowdhary, the police initiated legal action by registering an First Information Report (FIR) against the 5 suspects. The FIR cites sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 302 (murder) and 120B (Conspiracy), among others. Law enforcement authorities have indicated was fallout of a family dispute.

Additional Police Commissioner (ACP) Yogesh P told reporters, Amit Dagar, Nitin Dagar and Paloo were arrested Thursday morning and police seized a country made pistol, one used and two live cartridges and two cars from them.
Following the investigation, Amit Dagar told police that he had a discord with his wife Sarita Chowdhary as she had been living with her brother Manoj Chowdhary.

Amit alleged that his wife intended to sell their property in Duhai village, as well as a flat in Chiranjiv Vihar with an estimated value of ₹1.5 crore.

Further, Amit Dagar confessed that he had made efforts to convince his wife against selling these properties, even contacting her on Raksha Bandhan with a request for her return to come back home, which she declined.
ACP added that, the accused confessed that after none of his efforts bore fruit, he hatched a plan to eliminate Manoj Chaudhury and shot him dead on Wednesday.

He stated that, other people named in the FIR will be arrested soon.
