Parliamentary Panel Calls Law Commission and Ministry to Discuss Civil Code

A parliamentary standing committee has summoned representatives from the Law Commission and the law ministry on July 3 to discuss the recent notice issued by the law panel regarding the stakeholders’ opinions on the implementation of a uniform civil code.

As per the schedule of the standing committee on law and personnel, the committee will listen to the viewpoints of the law panel representatives, as well as the legal affairs and legislative departments of the law ministry, regarding the “public notice issued by the Law Commission of India on 14th June, 2023.” The notice invited feedback from various stakeholders on the subject of “Review of Personal Laws.”

Up until Tuesday evening, the law panel had received an overwhelming response, with nearly 8.5 lakh views and opinions submitted in response to its public notice.
