Jammu Kashmir’s Udhampur sessions court has recently handed life imprisonment to a husband-wife duo for murdering a man in the Chenani area here in 2016.
While awarding the life sentence to convict Jolly Ram and his wife Thakri Devi, the prosecution stated that the court imposed a fine of Rs 50 thousand on each. The same shall be paid as compensation to the kids of the deceased.
The couple who resides at the Chenani’s Basht Mori Nallah area, murdered a man identified as Mohan Lal on July 23, 2016.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the convicted persons had a quarrel with the deceased because he stole a box of tomatoes, said police.
Furthermore, the argument escalated and both the accused murdered Mohan Lal with an axe, after which they fled from the spot.
Under the facts and circumstances of the case, the Court of Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur on August 30 convicted Jolly Ram and his wife Thakri Devi.
