2018 Lynching Case: Rajasthan Court Sentenced 4 People To 7 Years Of Imprisonment

The Rajasthan court has recently sentenced four people to seven years in prison for killing a farmer over the suspicion of 2018 cattle smuggling.

In July 2018, Rakbar Khan and his friend Aslam got attacked by a mob of cow vigilantes in Alwar, Rajasthan where Rakbar was beaten up with sticks & stones while his friend managed to escape.

The four men there Dharmendra Yadav, Paramjeet, Vijay Kumar, and Naresh Kumar have been held guilty under the charges of culpable homicide and wrongful restraint.

However, one person was let off by the court over insufficient evidence.

Ashok Sharma (Special Public Prosecutor), stated that “Nawal Kishore has been acquitted on account of insufficient evidence against him.”

Afterward, the police took Rakbar Khan to a hospital allegedly after shifting his cows to a shelter. By that time, the 31-year-old was dead.

A photograph of Rakbar Khan sitting inside a police car raised questions about the role of the police in the attack. The photo had been circulated by Naval Kishore (man who placed a call to the police about the attack) and accompanied them for most of their 3-hour journey through the area before Rakbar Khan was taken to the hospital.

Therefore, the incident led to a howl over the alleged delay by the cops in taking Rakbar Khan to the hospital. Also, a judicial probe had been ordered by Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria who stated that the man may have lived the police who took him to hospital immediately, instead of taking the cows to shelter first.

The autopsy report of Rakbar Khan stated that he died of shock as a result of his injuries.

Rajeev Gupta stated that “There were injuries on the body… internal bleeding lead to the death.”
