The National Investigation Agency (NIA) are conducting searches at various locations in Tamil Nadu related to the Coimbatore car blast case of 2022. Raids are underway in Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli.

The blast occurred on October 23, 2022, in front of the Arulmigu Kottai Sangameshwarar Thirukovil temple on Eswaran Kovil Street in Ukkadam, Coimbatore. A suicide bomber, Jameesha Mubeen, was killed when his vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded.

The NIA has stated that Jameesha Mubeen, along with Tahanaseer and Mohammad Thoufeeq, was closely associated with the incident.

The case was initially registered by the Ukkadam Police Station and later transferred to the NIA.

Investigations revealed that Jameesha Mubeen was inspired by the radical ISIS ideology and had pledged allegiance to Abu-Al-Hasan Al Hashmi Al Qureshi, the self-proclaimed ISIS Caliphate leader at the time, before carrying out the attack, as stated by the NIA. The agency has arrested 15 individuals in connection with the blast.
