Satyendra Jain
AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain has filed a defamation complaint against BJP candidate Karnail Singh, who is contesting against him from Shakoor Basti in the upcoming assembly elections.
Jain alleges that Singh made defamatory remarks about him during a television interview on January 19.
According to Jain’s complaint, Singh falsely claimed that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recovered 37 kg of gold from his house and that he owned 1,100 acres of land.
The complaint further states that Singh accused Jain of amassing wealth through corruption—money that, according to Singh, should have been used for public welfare.
The plea, filed through advocate Rajat Bhardwaj, also alleges that Singh labeled Jain as a “Bhoo Mafia” (land mafia) and suggested that he would be sent back to jail.
Additionally, Singh allegedly called Jain corrupt and fraudulent, making several other defamatory claims against him.
Court is set to hear Jain’s defamation case on February 6.
Meanwhile, Delhi is gearing up for the assembly elections on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
