Lawyers across Rajasthan on Monday abstained from Court to protest the brutal murder of an advocate in broad daylight on Saturday evening.
Advocate Chauhan was killed in broad daylight while walking to his home in Jodhpur’s Mandir Wala Mohalla. Anil and Mukesh, two assailants, have been arrested since then. They both assaulted him with a knife and crushed his head with a stone on a busy road.
Mahendra Shandilya, President of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association (RHCBA), Jaipur Bench, told Legally Speaking that the lawyers would observe a one-day protest.
Shandilya stated, “All of our members will abstain from judicial work on Monday to protest the brutal murder of our brother Advocate Jugraj Chauhan and to demand the Advocate Protection Act. The RHCBA emphasises the critical need for an Advocates Protection Act.”
The RHCBA has also decided to appoint proxy counsel to seek adjournment in all courts, ensuring that the courts and litigants are not inconvenienced as a result of the protest.
