Delhi Police have registered a case after AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi filed a complaint about vandalism at his Delhi residence.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening, with unknown miscreants smearing black ink on the nameplate and posting pro-Israel posters outside Owaisi’s house at 34 Ashoka Road.

An FIR has been lodged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot). The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

Owaisi took to social media to condemn the incident, sharing visuals of the vandalism and challenging the perpetrators to confront him directly. He described their actions as “Savarkar-type cowardly behaviour” and urged them to stop resorting to such tactics. “To the two-bit goons who keep targeting my house: this does not scare me. Stop this Savarkar-type cowardly behaviour and be men enough to face me. Do not scurry away after throwing some ink or pelting a few stones,” the Hyderabad MP wrote.

The incident follows Owaisi’s controversial comments supporting a conflict-hit West Asian country during his oath-taking ceremony in the Lok Sabha, which sparked objections from BJP members. Owaisi defended his statement, saying there was nothing wrong with it.

The police are investigating the matter and searching for the accused.
