A special MP/MLA court in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi will deliver verdict in 32-year-old Awadhesh Rai’s murder case on Monday at around 2 PM, in which gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari is the prime accused.

A special MP/MLA court in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is set to deliver its verdict on Monday at approximately 2 PM in the murder case of Awadhesh Rai, a 32-year-old victim.

Mukhtar Ansari, a former gangster who turned into a politician, is the primary accused in this case.

Ahead of the judgement, security measures have been heightened in and around the court premises as well as in sensitive areas of the city.

The Special Court concluded the hearing and arguments on May 19, subsequently reserving its order and scheduling the delivery for June 5.

The incident that occurred on August 3, 1991, involved the fatal shooting of Awadhesh Rai, a Congress leader and the brother of former MLA Ajay Rai, outside Ajay Rai’s residence in Varanasi.

In this case, Ajay Rai named Mukhtar Ansari, Bhim Singh, and former MLA Abdul Kalim, in the FIR.

On May 17, Mukhtar Ansari was acquitted by a Ghazipur MP/MLA Court in a separate case related to an alleged murder attempt conspiracy in the Mohammadabad area of Uttar Pradesh.

In 2009, Mir Hasan filed a case of attempt to murder against Ansari under 120B. A case under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Ansari at Mohammadabad police station in Ghazipur.

Previously in 2009, Mir Hasan filed a case against Ansari under Section 120B for an attempt to murder, and a corresponding case under Section 307 of the IPC had been registered against Ansari at the Mohammadabad police station in Ghazipur.
