Baba Tarsem Singh Murder: FIR Filed against Ex-IAS Officer, 2 Ors

Days after the fatal shooting of Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh by two assailants on motorcycles, an FIR has been filed at Nanakmatta Police Station against former IAS officer Harbansh Singh Chugh and two others, Pritam Singh and Baba Anoop Singh, for the alleged murder.

Jasbir Singh, a sevadar of the Kar Seva, has alleged that Harbansh Singh Chugh and two others conspired to kill the Kar Seva Pramukh, claiming that additional individuals were also involved in the conspiracy.

According to Jasbir Singh, former IAS officer Harbansh Singh Chugh, Pritam Singh, and Baba Anoop Singh conspired to murder Baba Tarsem Singh to prevent them from misappropriating the property of Gurudwara Nanakmatta Sahib.

The Uttarakhand police stated they are closely investigating the case and conducting raids in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab in pursuit of the accused.

Uttarakhand Director General of Police, Abhinav Kumar, stated they received information about two masked assailants entering Nanakmatta Gurdwara and shooting Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh. He was rushed to Khatima hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Nanakmatta Gurdwara camp on Thursday to pay tribute to Baba Tarsem Singh. Lok Sabha candidate Ajay Bhatt was also present.

Baba Tarsem Singh was taken to Khatima hospital after being shot and was declared dead by doctors. Police officials have contacted central agencies for useful input, and a massive search operation is underway to apprehend the culprits. The state police express confidence in solving the murder.

In response to Baba Tarsem Singh’s murder, CM Dhami directed the DGP Uttarakhand to take immediate and strict action against the culprits.

The Chief Minister stated that an SIT has been formed to investigate the incident and strict instructions have been given to senior police officers to apprehend the murderers, described as enemies of society and humanity, as soon as possible.

Additional police forces have been deployed in the Nanakmatta area of Udham Singh Nagar district to maintain peace, and police have appealed to the Sikh community to remain peaceful.

Meanwhile, SDM Khatima Ravindra Singh Bisht reported that the law and order situation in the area is normal.
