BCD Suspends Licenses Of 15 Lawyers Involved In Tis Hazari Firing Case

The Bar Council of Delhi has recently suspended the licenses of 15 lawyers following the recommendation of the Fact-Finding Committee in the Tis Hazari Firing case.

The Council formed a committee to investigate the incident and obtained a report, which included the analysis of various video clips.

After considering the committee’s report and the evidence on record, the Bar Council of Delhi suspended the licenses of advocates Mohit Sharma, Akash Khatri, Sandeep Sood, Lalit, Satish Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Randeep, Vishal Yadav, Jitesh Khatri, Deepak Arora, Amulya Sharma, Sharad Sharma, Vibhu Tyagi, and Shiv Ram Pandey.

The suspension was initiated due to their involvement in the violent clash, use of abusive language, and filing of the incident captured in a viral video that occurred at the Tis Hazari Court premises on July 5, 2023.

Previously, the Chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi suspended the licenses of Manish Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Sachin Sangwan, Ravi Gupta, and Aman Singh in accordance with Rule 42, Chapter-IV of the Bar Council of Delhi Rules.

The Chairman subsequently formed a committee that examined multiple video clips and received cooperation from members of the Tis Hazari Bar, leading to the submission of an interim report.

A letter issued by the Secretary, BCD, Col. Arun Sharma (Retd.) read, “After considering the recommendations of the Committee and material placed on record, Chairman, BCD is fully satisfied that you among other advocates, are also seen actively involved in the violent incident with stick in your hand.”

Consequently, the Chairman suspended their licenses to practice as Advocates with immediate effect. The lawyers have been requested to provide a written explanation and appear before the Council on August 25, 2023, at 4:00 P.M. Failure to comply may result in ex-parte action being taken against them.
