BCI Removes 107 Fake Advocates From Delhi

In a significant move to eliminate fraudulent practitioners, the Bar Council of India on Monday has removed 107 fake advocates from the roll of advocates in Delhi.

This action aligns with the Bar Council of India Certificate and Place of Practice (Verification) Rules, 2015, and underscores the BCI’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of legal practice.

The advocates in question no longer meet the standards required for legal practice.

The BCI’s rigorous scrutiny has prompted many individuals aware of their non-compliance to voluntarily surrender their enrollment certificates, anticipating exposure.

In light of this, the Bar Council has urged all State Bar Councils to exercise caution when accepting such surrenders.

Moreover, several universities have reported the discovery of additional fake advocates while verifying academic degrees. These institutions are actively collaborating with State Bar Councils, and it is expected that hundreds more advocates may face removal from the roll in the near future.

This ongoing effort aims to strengthen the legal profession by ensuring that only qualified individuals are permitted to practice law.
