Bihar Police have detained six individuals from Deoghar district in Jharkhand in connection with suspected irregularities in the NEET medical entrance exam.
As per officials, they were apprehended on Friday night from a residence near AIIMS-Deoghar in the Devipur police station jurisdiction based on information provided by Bihar Police.
“The Bihar Police alerted us, and upon verification, they were apprehended. All suspects have been transferred to Bihar,” stated SDPO (Deoghar Sadar) Ritvik Srivastava.
The suspects were reportedly residing at the residence of Jhunu Singh, the official added.
Deoghar Police issued a statement identifying the detainees as Paramjit Singh alias Bittu, Chintu alias Baldev Kumar, Kaju alias Prashant Kumar, Ajit Kumar, Rajiv Kumar alias Karu, all hailing from Nalanda district in Bihar, and Panku Kumar.
NEET-UG, conducted by NTA on May 5, saw participation from approximately 24 lakh candidates. Although results were declared on June 4, allegations of question paper leaks surfaced in Bihar and other states, prompting investigations.
