The Chhattisgarh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested four individuals, including a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), for allegedly seeking and accepting a bribe in Surguja district.
The accused have been identified as SDM Bhagi Rathi Khande, home guard Kavinath Singh, clerk Dharampal, and peon Abir Ram.
“They are stationed at the SDM office in Udaipur tehsil, Surguja. Khande demanded Rs 55,000 from the complainant to pass an order correcting the revenue records of a piece of land in favor of him and his family members in Jajga village. The complainant’s uncle also claimed the land,” as per officials.
It was further revealed that Khande was apprehended in a trap set by the ACB. He instructed the complainant to give the bribe amount to his clerk, who then asked the peon to take it. The peon directed the complainant to hand over the money to the home guard. All four individuals were arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
