Bribery Case: Delhi L-G Gives Approval For ACB Probe Against Satyendar Jain

Delhi’s LG VK Saxena has recently approved an investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act against former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain, who is currently imprisoned on the bribery charges.

Jain is accused of taking a ₹7 crore bribe in connection with a ₹571 crore project to install CCTV cameras across 70 assembly constituencies.

The Delhi LG’s office stated that LG Saxena agreed with the Directorate of Vigilance’s proposal to send the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs under Section 17A of the POC Act, 1998, for ACB’s investigation approval against Jain.

In response to LG VK Saxena’s approval for the investigation against AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendra Jain, AAP leader Atishi stated, “The BJP is continuously conspiring against the Delhi government. Over 200 cases have been filed against AAP leaders in the last 10 years, but not a single rupee of corruption has been found. This is yet another fake case.”

A former employee of Bharat Electronics Limited filed a complaint stating that a ₹16 crore penalty was imposed due to alleged discrepancies in the installed CCTV cameras in Delhi.

According to the complaint, Satyendra Jain demanded a ₹7 crore bribe to waive off this penalty.

Following this, the Anti-Corruption Branch initiated an investigation, which has now been approved under the Prevention of Corruption Act by the LG.
