Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections: Over 6,400 Voters Opt for ‘Vote-from-Home’ Option

For the upcoming state assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, over 6,400 voters have chosen to utilize the Election Commission of India’s “vote-from-home” option, which was introduced for individuals above the age of 80 and those with disabilities exceeding 40 percent. These voters have opted for this facility, as confirmed by election officials.

The Chhattisgarh assembly elections, taking place in two phases on November 7 and 17, will involve a total of 2,03,93,160 voters, comprising 1,01,35,561 males, 1,02,56,846 females, and 753 transgender voters, according to a statement issued by the election authority.

Of these voters, 2,457 are aged 100 years or above and have been participating in the electoral process since its inception. Additionally, 7,29,267 voters in the 18-19 age group will be casting their votes for the first time.

The Election Commission has introduced the option of postal voting at home for voters above 80 years of age or with disabilities exceeding 40 percent, and 6,447 voters have chosen to avail themselves of this service.

Among the 90 assembly constituencies, the Raipur City North constituency has the highest number of transgender voters, totaling 96. In the capital city of Raipur, four constituencies collectively have 275 transgender voters.

In addition to these voters, there are 19,907 service voters and 17 overseas Indian voters.
