Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai on Thursday joined Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Mauritius, where he paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary.
According to an official release, the CJI is on a 3-day visit to Mauritius. During the commemorative event, India’s High Commissioner and other senior dignitaries were also present, reflecting the shared reverence for Gandhi’s ideals between India and Mauritius.
The ceremony at the institute, which plays a central role in promoting Indian culture, education, and values in Mauritius, was marked by tributes highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of truth, non-violence, and social justice.
Justice Gavai’s visit underlines the close cultural and historical ties between the two nations, both of which draw inspiration from Gandhi’s life and teachings.
