Chaos erupted at the Ghaziabad District Court when a clash broke out between lawyers and a judge over a case involving a Bar Association official.
The situation escalated to the point where police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd, resulting in several lawyers sustaining injuries.
Videos of the confrontation circulated on social media, depicting the police forcibly removing lawyers from the court premises and chairs being thrown during the melee. The disturbance began with an argument involving the district judge, which prompted a large group of lawyers to surround the judge’s chamber.
The judge subsequently called for police assistance, leading to their arrival and attempts to clear the courtroom.
In response to the lathi-charge, the lawyers organized a protest, vandalizing a police post within the court complex and shouting slogans against the judge. Following the incident, all judges in the court ceased their work, and the Bar Association convened a meeting to address the unfolding situation.
The clash has raised serious concerns about the conduct within the judicial system and the safety of those working in and around the courts.
