The Special Court in Greater Noida, UP, has recently granted bail to Seema Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani woman, and her Indian partner Sachin Meena in a case involving her illegal stay in India.
The arrest of Seema and Sachin took place on July 4, with Seema facing charges of illegally entering India and Sachin being accused of sheltering an illegal immigrant.
On July 4, both Seema and Sachin publicly professed their love for each other, expressing their desire to marry and remain together in India. Their relationship began in 2019 through an online game called PUBG, and they grew closer over time, leading Seema to make the decision to come to India and reside with Sachin in Greater Noida.
Representing the accused, Advocate Hemant Krishna Parashar informed that bail was granted to both Seema and Sachin by Justice Nazim Akbar of the Jewar Civil Court junior division.
The court imposed a condition that Seema must not change her place of residence throughout the duration of the case, and the couple must regularly attend court hearings.
While Seema and Sachin have been granted bail, their release from jail is pending completion of paperwork and verification, as stated by Sudhir Kumar, in charge of the local Rabupura police station where the case was lodged.
Kumar told media that, “Seema’s four children are also with her in the jail. They would stay with the mother once she walks out of the jail.”
Advocate Parashar argued before the court that Seema’s actions were motivated by love, emphasizing her innocence in the matter.
He also claimed that Seema and Sachin had already married earlier this year in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Parashar told media that, “Seema told me in writing that she and Sachin had got married in Kathmandu, Nepal. I informed the court about this. I also argued that Seema first went from Pakistan to Nepal and then came to India. Those coming from Nepal to India are not required to carry passport or have visa.”
Further, the lawyer claimed that, “I also apprised the court that Seema feels threat to her life if she is sent back to Pakistan. She feels her young children might get spared but she would be killed for her acts.”
He said the court was satisfied with the arguments and granted bail to the couple.
Previously, the court had ruled that Seema’s four children, all below the age of 7, would remain with their mother in jail. The children had accompanied Seema during her illegal entry into India in May this year.
Additionally, Sachin’s father, Netrapal Singh, was arrested and charged with sheltering an illegal immigrant.
However, he was granted bail on Thursday by the same court, as confirmed by the police.
