Cryptocurrency Fraud Case: Man Loses Rs.36 Lakh

A man from Navi Mumbai who was involved in stock market trading has recently lost over ₹36 lakh after being tricked into investing in cryptocurrency.

According to police, the victim, a resident of Kharghar, was contacted in April by two individuals who claimed to be from a financial institution. They persuaded him to enroll in cryptocurrency trading training.

After he agreed, they began the training but subsequently stole ₹36,80,151 from him in multiple installments by connecting him to various trading platforms. When the victim requested his money and investment returns, the accused did not respond.

The victim then reported the fraud to the police.

A case was registered under sections 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The cyber police station has launched an investigation into the case.
