The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot for questioning on Saturday regarding a money-laundering case associated with the now-voided excise policy for the capital, according to official sources.
Gahlot (49), an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA representing Najafgarh, serves as the Minister for Transport, Home, and Law in the Delhi government under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who himself has been arrested in connection with the case by the federal agency.
Sources indicate that Gahlot has been directed to appear for questioning in the case and to provide his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The case involves alleged corruption and money laundering related to the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government’s excise policy for the fiscal year 2021-22, which was subsequently annulled.
AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were previously arrested by the federal probe agency in connection with the case and are currently in judicial custody.
