The Delhi government has recently given the green light for a new district court complex in Rouse Avenue, with the project estimated to cost Rs.427 crore. The decision was made during a recent Expenditure Finance Committee meeting.
According to a press release from the Finance Minister’s office, Finance Minister Atishi announced the approval, emphasizing the need for improved judicial infrastructure. “The Kejriwal government is committed to enhancing Delhi’s judicial facilities. This new complex on Rouse Avenue is a significant step forward in providing better infrastructure for our courts,” Atishi said.
Atishi highlighted that adequate court infrastructure is crucial for timely and accessible justice. She noted the current backlog of cases, which contributes to delays, and stressed the government’s dedication to addressing this issue.
The new district court complex will feature 55 courtrooms and is expected to greatly improve the judicial system in Delhi. Atishi also mentioned that the project will include modern amenities such as a library, basement parking, conference rooms, and judicial offices, enhancing convenience for judges, lawyers, and the public.
The Finance Minister has instructed the relevant departments to develop a detailed timeline for the project and ensure its swift completion.
