Delhi Liquor Scam: No Relief For Sisodiya, SC Adjourns Hearing Till Sep

The Supreme Court on Friday denied interim bail to Manish Sisodia in the Delhi Excise Policy case.

The court stated that it will hear the bail plea in September. During the hearing, Manish Sisodia’s counsel, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, read out his medical report, stating that he is experiencing back pain and is unable to walk properly.

However, the court clarified that whether he is indoor or outdoor, it does not change the basis for granting interim bail.

The court refused to reject the plea on medical grounds, as the medical condition is not the basis for granting bail.

The Supreme Court informed the counsel for the investigating agency that they will consider the regular bail and interim bail plea together in September. During the regular bail hearing, the court will seek details regarding the policy decisions, money trail, and evidence related to the alleged misconduct.

On July 14, Manish Sisodia filed a bail plea in the Supreme Court, citing his wife’s illness. Two days before that, the CBI accused the Aam Aadmi Party leader of being involved in a criminal conspiracy with southern Indian accused in the liquor business in the capital.

In response to the CBI, it was also mentioned that Sisodia does not cooperate in cases where bail is sought, as he is politically influential. The evidence has already tampered and he has been uncooperative during the investigation.

Previously, on July 3, the Delhi High Court also denied granting bail to Sisodia in the ED case. On May 30, the High Court dismissed his bail plea in the same CBI case related to the scam.
