Delhi Police has arrested a habitual offender for the alleged murder of a long-standing adversary, dating back to their time in Tihar Jail.
The murder, which occurred on June 6, involved two accomplices, including a juvenile who has also been apprehended, according to authorities.
“Jitender (26) and his associates, Rohit and a juvenile, are accused of murdering Moidul, a resident of Jahangirpuri, due to a longstanding enmity,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Satish Kumar.
DCP Kumar noted that while both accused were incarcerated in Tihar Jail, Moidul had allegedly assaulted Jitender with a sharp weapon. On June 6, Jitender retaliated by stabbing Moidul in broad daylight.
Following the incident, multiple police teams were mobilized to apprehend the suspects. During the night of June 6 and 7, the juvenile accomplice was successfully detained.
“After apprehending the juvenile, the focus shifted to locating Jitender, who had switched off his phone and was evading arrest,” stated DCP Kumar.
On June 8, Jitender was eventually arrested from Mangolpuri by the police team.
DCP Kumar highlighted that Jitender has a criminal record, with 25 previous cases including charges for possession of illegal firearms, robbery, and attempted murder.
