Delhi Police has apprehended a man for allegedly filing a false FIR and orchestrating the theft of his truck loaded with copper scrap valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh.
As per police reports, Mukesh (42) orchestrated the theft of his truck with Bablu in exchange for a promised sum of Rs 12 lakh.
He lodged a complaint regarding the theft on April 19, claiming that his truck was stolen from a parking lot in Alipur’s Hamidpur village.
During the course of the investigation, police began to harbor suspicions regarding Mukesh’s activities and statements, disclosed Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Sain.
It emerged that Mukesh himself erased the call logs on his phone and searched for ways to file a fake FIR on the day of the incident, he elaborated.
“Upon interrogation, Mukesh, who previously worked as a truck driver, admitted that his motive behind the deceitful act was to earn easy money for online cricket betting. Consequently, he was apprehended,” Sain disclosed.
Mukesh informed police that on April 18, he parked the truck at Sonu’s parking lot and Bablu absconded with the vehicle later that night.
From the agreed sum, Bablu remunerated Mukesh Rs 9.50 lakh, of which Mukesh allocated Rs 50,000 towards personal expenses.
The remaining Rs 9 lakh were confiscated from him, and further legal proceedings are underway, police affirmed.
