Delhi Police Rescues Kidnapped Siblings in Heroic Chase

The Delhi police successfully rescued two siblings, aged three and eleven years, who were kidnapped from the Laxmi Nagar area after a three-hour car chase, officials stated on Saturday.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from the siblings’ parents. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apurva Gupta said they received information about the kidnapping of the boy (3) and the girl (11) on Friday at 11:30 p.m.

The siblings’ father told the police that the children were sitting in the car outside Hira Sweets shop in Vikas Marg, Shakarpur, while he and their mother went inside to buy sweets. A man, pretending to be a parking attendant, then entered their car, Gupta said.

The accused told the children their parents had sent him to park the car but then sped away. He threatened the girl with a hammer and instructed her to remain silent, the DCP added. During the drive, he called the parents from another phone and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

Upon receiving the information, rescue teams were mobilized, and two teams were formed to track the accused and the children. One team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shakarpur police station along with the children’s mother, and another team, led by the SHO of Laxmi Nagar police station with the father, began searching in separate directions, Gupta said.

Based on technical surveillance, both teams started searching for the accused in different directions. Teams from the Special Staff and neighboring districts were also involved in the search for the kidnapped children.

Gupta noted that after a dramatic three-hour chase involving around 20 police vehicles, the kidnapper abandoned the car with the children near the Samaypur Badli area and escaped. During the chase, the accused drove the vehicle for over 100 kilometers across Delhi.

The police teams successfully rescued the children, who were unharmed, and they have been reunited with their parents. The valuables, including jewelry and mobile phones left in the car, were found intact, as the kidnapper had no time to take them during the pursuit.

Gupta commended the contributions of other districts’ police teams, particularly Outer North district and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), for their significant assistance in the operation. Teams have been formed to apprehend the accused, he added.
