The arrested individuals were identified as Mohammad Atif, Ashraf, Arif Ali, Rukhsar, and Mohammad Mukhtar Ansari.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Goel stated, “We received intelligence indicating that a drug dealer, Atif, would arrive near the Chhatta Rail Chowk Flyover area to deliver a significant quantity of drugs. Accordingly, a trap was set, resulting in Atif’s arrest with 1 kg of heroin in February.”
Authorities revealed that Atif disclosed receiving the contraband from Ashraf of Bareilly, intending to deliver it to a recipient at Anaj Mandi in the Narela area.
Police teams conducted raids at Ashraf’s hideouts in Bareilly. On February 5, he was apprehended from a hospital, with 490 grams of heroin recovered from his possession.
“Subsequently, Ashraf implicated Arif and Rukshar, both residents of Bareilly. Arif Ali was arrested on March 23 from his rented accommodation, where 202 grams of heroin and 201 grams of mixed solid substance were found,” officials stated.
“Rukhsar was apprehended on April 12 from Lucknow, with 200 grams of heroin, 1 kg of mixing substance, 500 grams of dye or mixing color, 45 kg of soda, and apparatus utilized for preparing heroin from crude raw materials recovered from his residence,” the DCP added, mentioning that Ansari was later arrested from Hazaribagh.
