Enemy Property Case Against Azam Khan Will Be Heard Again Today

The ongoing hearing against Samajwadi Party National General Secretary Azam Khan in the enemy property case continued on Wednesday. The defense attorneys examined the documents provided by the witness, with the testimony of the Lekhpal (revenue officer) currently in progress. The defense will cross-examine him, and therefore the hearing will be resuming today.

Case Insights

The enemy property case was registered in 2019 at the Azimnagar police station. The complaint was filed by Allama Jameer Naqvi, a resident of Narayan Garden Hussainbadi Thakurganj, Lucknow. Naqvi stated that Imamuddin Qureshi of Lucknow moved to Pakistan during the Partition, and his property was declared ‘enemy property’ by the government.

However, revenue records also showed his property in Rampur, raising questions about how his property was listed there when he was a resident of Lucknow.

Case History

Azam Khan is accused of fraudulently including this property in Jauhar University with the help of his family and Waqf officials.

In addition to Azam Khan, his wife and former MP Dr. Tazeen Fatma, his son Abdullah, former president of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Board Syed Wasim Rizvi, president of the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Board Lucknow Zufar Farooqi, Mazhar Ali, Syed Ghulamus Syedain, Rahmat Hussain Zaidi, and Masood Khan are also named in the case.

The police completed the investigation and therefore submitted the charge sheet to the court. The trial is being conducted in the MP-MLA Special Court (Magistrate Trial).
