Ex-MP Prajwal Revanna Faces New FIR Alleging Sexual Harassment

One more FIR has been filed against former MP Prajwal Revanna, alleging sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation, according to police sources.

Alongside him, three others, including former BJP MLA from Hassan Preetham Gowda, have also been implicated in the FIR for allegedly disseminating images taken by Prajwal during the victim’s sexual harassment via video call, they added.

This latest FIR marks the fourth case registered against Prajwal.

Prajwal, the 33-year-old grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, is currently in police custody as per sources.

The case has been registered under sections 355 A (sexual harassment), 354 B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 354 D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, and 66 E (punishment for violation of privacy) of the Information Technology Act. Additionally, there are charges of rape against him. Prajwal had recently failed to retain the Hassan parliamentary constituency in the polls.

Upon his return from Germany on May 31, SIT officials arrested Prajwal at Bengaluru Airport. Earlier, a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ was issued by Interpol following a request from the SIT via the Central Bureau of Investigation.

A Special Court for Elected Representatives had issued an arrest warrant on May 18, prompted by an SIT application. Prajwal faces allegations in three cases of sexual assault.

Incidents of sexual abuse involving Prajwal came to light after pen-drives containing explicit videos purportedly involving him were circulated in Hassan just before the Lok Sabha polls on April 26. In response to the cases filed against him, the JD(S) has suspended Prajwal from the party.
