The Former Madhya Pradesh High Court judge Justice Rohit Arya joined the Bharatiya Janata Party nearly 3 months after his retirement. He received his party membership from BJP Madhya Pradesh Chief Dr. Raghavendra Sharma at a program held at the BJP State Office in Bhopal.
Born in 1962, Justice Arya began his legal career as an advocate in 1984 and was recognized as a senior advocate by the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2003. His expertise spanned various legal domains including civil law, commercial law, arbitration, administrative law, service law, labor law, and tax law. Throughout his career, he represented entities such as the Central Government, State Bank of India, Telecom Department, BSNL, Employees State Insurance Corporation, and Income Tax Department.

Appointed as a Judge of the High Court in 2013, he took oath as a permanent Judge in 2015 and retired on April 27, 2024.
In 2021, Justice Arya gained attention for denying bail to comedian Munawar Faruqui and Nalin Yadav, accused of offending religious sentiments. His order emphasized the constitutional duty to promote harmony and brotherhood among citizens, regardless of differences in religion or background.
Previously, in 2020, Justice Arya granted bail to a man accused of outraging the modesty of a woman under the condition that he visit the complainant’s house on Raksha Bandhan to have a rakhi tied on his wrist, symbolizing protection. The Supreme Court later overturned this decision, criticizing the conditions imposed.
Justice Arya’s move into politics comes after a distinguished legal career marked by notable judicial decisions and interpretations.
