The Goa Police on Wednesday apprehended a 24-year-old Nigerian woman in Mapusa town for possessing drugs worth Rs 15 lakh, an official stated.
The woman, identified as Faith Chiemerie, was apprehended at the Mapusa bus stand shortly after her arrival from Bengaluru. She was found in possession of 150 grams of amphetamine, stated Superintendent of Police (Anti-Narcotics Cell) Akshat Kaushal.
The arrest followed a trap laid by the ANC sleuths upon receiving intelligence inputs, he explained. “Preliminary investigation indicates that she had transported the contraband from Bengaluru to Goa for the purpose of selling and distributing it,” Kaushal mentioned.
According to the official, the woman had entered India on a student visa with the intention of pursuing an academic course at the University of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. However, she never attended the campus and instead engaged in work in Bengaluru.
