A Gurugram court’s additional district and sessions judge recently sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping his mother and abetting her suicide. The convict was also fined Rs 20,000 by Justice Rahul Bishnoi.
According to the judge’s order, the convict was supposed to act as an “umbrella of protection for her” being the prosecutrix’s son, but he became her tormentor and “acted like an animal” and committed the heinous act, leaving the woman with no choice but to commit suicide.
According to police, the man’s mother hanged herself at her home in Haryana’s Pataudi district on November 16, 2020.
Later, the woman’s husband filed a police complaint, alleging that she was forced into taking the extreme step.
The man told police that the deceased’s elder son was a drug addict who frequently fought with family members. After her husband died around 20 years ago, the woman married her brother-in-law.
According to the police, the woman’s postmortem report revealed that she was raped. As a result, her son was arrested on November 21, 2020. In court, up to 18 witnesses testified, and the claims against the accused were proven true.
