In the Gyanvapi mosque case, the Hindu side on Wednesday asked the court to permit the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey by digging at the Gyanvapi complex.
The Civil Judge Senior Division Fast Track Court, Jugal Shambhu, scheduled the next hearing for September 18 to address this request.
The Hindu side, represented by lawyer Madan Mohan Yadav, has completed its arguments and is seeking court approval for the ASI to explore the site further. Yadav argued that the original Jyotirlinga is believed to be located under the dome of the mosque within the Gyanvapi complex.
Yadav also mentioned that water once flowed continuously from the ‘Argha’ into the Gyanvapi Kund, which is considered a sacred site. The Hindu side has requested that this water be examined by experts to confirm its significance.
Additionally, they have called for an investigation into the ‘Shivling’ found at the site, which the Muslim side refers to as a ‘wuzukhana,’ to determine whether it is a Shivling or a fountain.
Representatives of the Muslim side were present in court and are expected to present their views at the next hearing.
