Guwahati is set to host the 3rd regional event of the year-long Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman campaign under the Ministry of Law and Justice’s Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice scheme.
This significant event, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, will take place on November 19 at the IIT Guwahati Auditorium.
Key Highlights of the Event-
The event will open with the planting of saplings to honor the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly who contributed to shaping the Constitution. This symbolic gesture underscores their pivotal role in establishing the Indian Republic.
– Samvidhan Katta Magazine: Featuring 75 compelling stories, this magazine will showcase the relevance of the Constitution in daily life, along with accounts from participants in the Tele Law and Nyaya Bandhu legal aid programs.
– Comic Book: A visually engaging publication narrating real-life stories of 10 beneficiaries who successfully safeguarded their constitutional rights through these programs.
Eight insightful podcasts will be unveiled, focusing on protecting citizens’ constitutional rights through the Tele Law and Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) initiatives.
The event will be graced by Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge), as the Chief Guest, and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, as the Guest of Honour.
An audience of approximately 1,400 participants, including judges, legal professionals, government officials, law students, and community representatives, is expected to attend in person. Additional stakeholders from across the region will participate virtually.
This regional gathering in Guwahati is part of the nationwide Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman campaign, which was launched earlier this year by the Vice-President of India at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
The campaign aims to deepen understanding of the Indian Constitution and enhance awareness about legal rights, with an emphasis on ensuring access to justice for all.
Previous regional events in Bikaner (March 2024) and Prayagraj (July 2024) witnessed enthusiastic participation, setting the stage for the impactful session in Guwahati.
By promoting constitutional values and highlighting the importance of accessible justice, the campaign is fostering a greater appreciation for the role of the Constitution in citizens’ everyday lives.
