Police have apprehended the brother and cousin of a newly married woman, who, along with her husband, was fatally shot dead in Hansi town (Haryana).

Sachin (21), from Sultanpur village, is the younger brother of the deceased woman, Meena, while Rahul (22), residing in Dariyawali village in Jind district, is her cousin (maternal uncle’s son), Superintendent of Police Maqsood Ahmed stated.

They were arrest on Tuesday (25th June) in Dariyawali village, where the duo allegedly perpetrated the shooting of the newly married couple, Meena (24) and Tejveer (27), at Lala Hukam Chand Jain Park in Hansi on Monday, according to police reports. Meena, a resident of Sultanpur, and Tejveer, originally from Badala village, were married at an Arya Samaj Mandir in Ghaziabad in April, against the wishes of the woman’s family.

SP Ahmed disclosed that Sachin had lured Meena and Tejveer to the park, where he and Rahul allegedly carried out the fatal shooting.

In response to a complaint filed by Tejveer’s father, a case was registered against 11 individuals under various legal provisions, including murder, SP Ahmed confirmed. Investigations are ongoing, and additional individuals implicated in the incident will face legal repercussions, the SP added.
