The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted nationwide raids on Wednesday to apprehend individuals involved in human trafficking. According to officials, a person from Myanmar was detained in Jammu.
The raids are part of investigations into human trafficking cases and are being carried out in eight states and two Union Territories, as stated by an NIA spokesperson.
In Tripura, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry, searches were conducted. During a raid in Jammu and Kashmir, a Rohingya Muslim from Myanmar named Zaffar Alam was taken into custody.
This arrest took place at around 2 am at his temporary residence in the Bathindi area of Jammu. Another accused individual is currently evading arrest. These raids specifically targeted slums where Myanmar immigrants reside and were conducted in connection with a case related to the violation of the Passports Act and human trafficking.
